Crimes Aaj Kal Episode 10 Recap
An 8th-grade student, Sumit dreams of getting a mobile phone like his friends and keeps requesting his parents every day. Be it at dawn or dusk, he is non-stop about it. But his parents clearly state to him that when he gets a good score in his 10th std exam, he would get a mobile phone just like his elder brother Amit. Sumit doesn't listen to them and keeps bringing up online classes as a reason to get a phone. Nevertheless, the parents aren't ready to listen.
Then Sumit acts all bright and cheerful throughout the day, which makes his friends worry. Amit asks what's causing Sumit to keep smiling all day, but the latter just responds that he is going to get the mobile phone today. After the brothers return home, Sumit doesn't join them for lunch and straight up leaves somewhere out.
The time turns 8.30 pm, and Sumit, who left at noon, still isn't home. The panicking parents, brother, and the maid finally reach out to the police, and they conclude that it has to be a kidnapping since Sumit looked like he was out to meet someone. The investigation starts, and just then, Sumit's father gets a phone call from a guy demanding 25 lakhs as ransom to save Sumit.

The police hideously assist the parents so that the kidnappers won't make any wrong move. While Sumit's father prepares the money, cops find footage of a guy watching Amit and Sumit every day. Amit recognises him as Irfan, who works at the local salon. The police find Irfan and arrest him. They beat him to a pulp, and he admits that Sumit is with Mushtaq and not him.
Apparently, Mushtaq works at a car repair shop while Irfan works as a barber. Both young men are tired of working hard and getting underpaid, so they decide to start a business. However, none of the people wish to lend them money, so the friends plot a terrible plan. They decide to kidnap Amit by using his mobile phone as bait and threaten his parents for money.
While their plan took off, Irfan gets caught, and now the final search is for Mushtaq. Sumit's father reaches the destination and gives money to the kidnapper. Right when he was about to escape, the cops catch him. On interrogating Mushtaq and Irfan they open up about murdering Sumit and burying him. Sumit's father breaks down on seeing his son's lifeless body. The culprits are arrested while the family regrets for not buying their son a mobile phone.
Crimes Aaj Kal Episode 10 Review
The storyline is relatable because this is something a lot of families are facing. Kids these days are indulged in mobile phones that lead them to destructive paths. Likewise, children who also demand a phone somehow get into trouble. While the kidnapping of a child and a child's wish for a phone are two different concepts, it's nice to see how the director has combined the situations and shown the possibility of how deadly things can go.
As parents, whatever they did was right, but they could have spoken in detail with Sumit. It is important to have a check on who one's child is contacting with. Episode 10 did its purpose well and good with neat cinematography and good acting.
Crimes Aaj Kal is streaming on Amazon miniTV.
